NVD-5X

The Night Vision Depot 5X-Binocular is a dedicated five power binocular for long range observation and surveillance. This unit uses the AN/PVS-7D body assembly in conjunction with a high quality five power astronomy grade catadioptric objective lens. The NVD-5X can also be supplied with a camera adapter for high quality night vision imagery.

Power is supplied via two AA batteries for a run time of up to 40 hours of continuous use. The NVD-5X can be fitted with either a Gen 2 or Gen 3 18mm image intensifier. Because the unit is based upon the popular AN/PVS-7B & D night vision goggle, repair, maintenance and supportability are greatly enhanced and the image intensifier can be upgraded at any time with a drop-in replacement MX10130 image tube. A built-in high light cutoff turns power off to the unit if it is left on during daylight hours.

The NVD-5X objective lens is a fast f/l.6 lens; it has a very low chromatic aberration and provides crisp imagery over its full 450-910 nm (extended blue) operating range with up to 200 lp/mm resolution (limited by choice of image intensifier). The lens is nitrogen purged, environmentally sealed and tested to withstand a water immersion depth of 3 feet.
