The PVS-5D is the GEN III version of the PVS-5C. This upgrade to the PVS-5 series of night vision goggles builds upon a lifespan of more than 25 years of dependable service in the field, increases the PVS-5's low light performance by more than 50 percent, and more than triples the lifespan of the system. This upgrade makes the PVS-5 equal to almost any generation III night vision goggle being currently fielded. The PVS-5 series of goggles have been produced by the hundreds of thousands, ensuring a lifetime of supportability and the PVS-5 can use many of the accessories developed for both the AN/PVS-7B/D and the AN/PVS-14 night vision systems.
